Guilford John Strong, Sr., age 89, died June 30, 2019.
Mr. Strong was born November 3, 1929 in Knoxboro, N.Y. He was the son of the late Herbert and Adelaide Van Evra Strong. Mr. Strong was a graduate of Madison High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was retired from Eastern Rock after 36 years. Mr. Strong was a lifelong member of the Kelly-Phillips American Legion, Post 569.
He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Gilbert, Charles, Keith, Carlton, Teddy, Doug, Gary, Dickey, LaVern and Phyllis.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, June Godfrey Strong; children: Guilford (Darlene) Strong, Jr. of Hamilton, NY, Mark (Debbie Starkweather) Strong of Munnsville, NY, Craig (Dawn) Strong of Oneida, NY, Alfred Strong of Sangerfield, NY, Jackie (Harry Lynch) Amacker of Sangerfield, NY, and Denise (Tony King) Zike of Waterville, NY; step-sons, Richard (Konnie) Miller of Lebanon, TN and David (Cindy) Miller, Jr. of Old Hickory, TN; siblings: Kay Konono of Rome, NY, Barbara Mennig of Munnsville, NY, Warner Strong of Florida, Tony Strong of Knoxboro, NY, and Joe Strong of Oneida, NY; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
In keeping with Mr. Strong’s wishes there will be no calling hours or services. Burial will be in New York at a later date.
