Saints, Commanders play in loser-out gameKNOXVILLE — Friendship Christian’s boys dropped a 63-35 loss to top seeded Knoxville Webb Friday in the semifinals of the East-Middle District 1-A basketball tournament.

With the loss, the Commanders dropped to 13-12 on the season and were scheduled to play in a loser-out game Saturday afternoon at Knox Webb. The winner will advance to next week’s region tournament.

Zach Blair had 11 points for FCS while Nolan Painter and Gregory Elliott each had six.

MJ Christian’s boys lost 63-43 to Donelson Christian in Friday’s other semifinal contest, despite 17 points from Logan Anderson.

Justus Willis had 11 and Tyler West 10 for the Saints, who slipped to 14-10 on the season.

(girls) FCS to play for titleKNOXVILLE — Friendship Christian’s Lady Commander knocked off Donelson Christian 49-36 Friday in the semifinals of the East-Middle District 1-A tournament at Knox Webb.

With the victory, FCS (16-6) reached the tournament finals against host Knox Webb Saturday afternoon. Both teams will advance to next week’s regionals.

Ashlyn Pittman had 21 points for Friendship, Hailey Pittman added 10 and Autumn Groves finished with nine.

Knox Webb 46, MJ Christian 26The Lady Saints dropped into loser-out game of the district tournament following Friday’s 46-26 loss to tourney host Knox Webb.

MJCA got 14 points from Caroline Scott and dropped to 13-11 overall.

Thursday night results — Wilson County’s four Division II basketball teams all advanced to the semifinals of the East-Middle District tournament with opening round victories Thursday.

Friendship Christian’s girls (15-6) eliminated Hendersonville Christian 48-27 at the Bay Family Sportsplex, earning a 5 p.m. CST game Friday vs. against No. 2 seeded Donelson Christian Academy at Knox Webb.

Courtney Petty led FCS with 16 points while Ashlyn Pittman had 10 points and Hailey Pittman added nine.

In Thursday’s second game, the Commanders eliminated The King’s Academy 50-44, moving to 13-11 on the season.

FCS is scheduled to play 3:30 p.m. this (Friday) afternoon in a semifinal contest at No. 1 seed Knoxville Webb.

Zach Blair led the Commanders with 16 points and Hanley Sobieszczyk had 12 before exiting the game with an injury.

MJCA squads move onMT. JULIET — Both Mt. Juliet Christian Academy squads earned semifinal berths with Thursday night home wins.

The Saints (14-9) eliminated St. Andrew’s-Sewanee 43-34 as Preston Sloan and Logan Anderson each had 13 points while Justus Willis added eight.

MJCA will take on No. 2 seeded Donelson Christian at 6:30 p.m. CST tonight at Knox Webb.

The Lady Saints knocked off The King’s Academy in Thursday’s opener and will take on top seed Knox Webb today at 2 p.m.
