FCS Class of 2021 outfielder —

Friendship Christian School outfielder Camden Hayslip has been selected to play in the Perfect Game All American Classic Friday, September 4 in Oklahoma City.

Hayslip, who has verbally committed to play collegiately at Alabama, was the 2019 Wilson County Player of the Year.

He finished the season with a batting average of .413 and 28 extra-base hits — including 11 homers, 12 doubles and five triples. He drove in 33 runs and scored 55 runs.

Then a sophomore, he helped the Commanders to finish the season with a record of 30-8 and a spot in the TSSAA Division II-A quarterfinals.

Perfect Game has ranked Hayslip, now checking in at 6-3, 2-5 pounds, as one of the top 50 prep players in the county while Baseball America has ranked him No. 23 in the publication’s annual Top 100 list of draftable players.

Hayslip, who hits and throws from the left side, was a big-play receiver back in 2018 as a sophomore for the FCS football team and was voted All-Wilson County by The Wilson Post.

He was moved to quarterback for the 2019 campaign, but was injured in the final preseason scrimmage a year ago and missed the entire season.

Hayslip will concentrate on baseball as a senior in the spring of 2021.
