Devilettes open game 14-0 --
LEBANON -- Host Lebanon opened the game on a 14-0 run and carried a commanding 29-12 lead into intermission in a 62-35 victory over Mt. Juliet Friday at Campbell Brandon Gymnasium.
"Our student section showed up and was loud from the very beginning," said LHS coach Cory Barrett.
"I thought we fed off that and of course, it's Mt. Juliet. We've had some battles with them since I've been here and our girls were ready to play."
With the win, the Devilettes improved to 5-2 on the season and 1-0 in District 9AAA. Mt. Juliet slipped to 2-3 / 0-1 in league play.
Aaryn Grace Lester paced the LHS onslaught with 16 points while Avery Harris and Anne Marie Heidebreicht had nine points apiece.
Allissa Mulaski added seven and lightning quick sophomore Asia Barr came off the bench for six points -- four coming on a pair of driving layups to close the second quarter.
"Asia is a big-time athlete," Coach Barrett said. "She doesn't know how good she can be. Once she figures it out, she's going to have a heck of a career here at Lebanon."
Senior post Halle Jones scored 25 to lead Mt. Juliet as 13 of those points came in the fourth quarter with the game already out of hand.
Ninth grader Adelyn Kendall nailed three 3-pointers in the final eight minutes for her nine points and Nevaeh Majors finished with five points -- all coming in the first quarter.
Mt. Juliet returns to action Friday, Dec. 13 at Gallatin while Lebanon is scheduled to entertain Hendersonville High the same night.
