TCHS visits Watertown in 2A quarters -
Fresh from a hard-fought 42-12 win over Marion County in the TSSAA playoffs, Watertown (11-1) puts a 10-game winning streak on the line Friday against longtime rival Trousdale in a Class 2A quarterfinal matchup.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Robinson Stadium. All available tickets have been sold. Live radio coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. on WTNK AM 1090 & FM 93.5 as well as online at www.FunRadioTN.com.
There's certainly no love lost between the two programs.
The Purple Tigers won the last meeting back on Sept. 4, tripping TCHS 9-7 in Hartsville.
Since then, the Yellow Jackets (10-2) have reeled off nine straight victories -- including last week's 14-7 win over Bledsoe County in Pikeville.
Trousdale County eliminated Watertown 22-19 in a quarterfinal matchup a year ago.
“It’s becoming a tradition with us and Trousdale in the quarterfinals,” said Watertown head coach Gavin Webster.
“Hopefully we can get out and get some hard work in this week. It’s going to be a great atmosphere.
"I’ve got nothing but respect for Trousdale County -- it’s going to be a hard-fought ball game. We’ve just got to come out and play football.”
Friday's winner will advance to the semifinals against the winner of the Meigs County versus South Greene contest.
