Tennessee Tech freshman golfer Mark McDearman has been named to both the All-Ohio Valley Conference Team and OVC All-Newcomer Team.
McDearman, a 2020 graduate of Lebanon High School, placed sixth in last week’s 2021 OVC tournament, shooting rounds of 71, 75 & 70 for even par at 216.
McDearman, the son of former Golden Eagle golfer John McDearman (1988-92), ranked ninth in the OVC in scoring, posting a team-low stroke average of 72.56.
He ranked second on the squad with five rounds at or under par and one top-10 finish.
The rookie played in three of Tech’s five spring events, collecting a season-low round of 69 in his first collegiate event, the Golden Eagles’ own Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate.
He tied for ninth with a season-best 54-hole score of 2-under 214.
During his time at Lebanon High McDearman was a two-sport athlete lettering four years in golf for coach Hunter Christian and three years in baseball for coach Will Wakefield.
