Wilson Central senior thrower —

NASHVILLE — Wilson Central’s Zoe Vlk established a new school and personal record and won the Women’s Weight Throw Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Tennessee Indoor Championships held at Vanderbilt University’s multipurpose facility.

Vlk, a 2018 Tennessee Sports Writer Association all-state selection, recorded a throw of 54′ 0.84″ — good enough for eighth nationally on the indoor circuit.

Vlk’s performance helped lead Wilson Central to sixth place out of 37 teams with 20.33 points. The senior also placed second in the shot put with a throw of 40′ 1.10″.

Olivia Lanius brought home fourth place in the high jump with a leap of 4′ 9″.

Central’s Morgan Bailey finished in 11th place in the triple jump with both a school and Personal Record jump of 32′ 5.37″.

Bailey finished 16th (10.26) and Lanius 21st (11.27) in the 60 meter hurdles. Both times were PR’s.

Jaycie Hitt placed 16th place in the long jump at 15′ 6″.

Central’s 4×400 meter relay team earned an eighth place finish with a time of 4:45.20.

Relay members included: Hitt, Mackenzie Abigt-Hansen, Makeena Merkley and Madeline Bittle.

Senior Garrett Todd topped the boys side with second place finish in the long jump of 22′ 1.75″ — a new PR.

Todd doubled up in the 60 meter dash, finishing 10th with a time of 7.27 — another PR.

The Wildcats’ 4×400 relay team finished in eighth place in a time to 3:43.84.

Relay members included: Sterling Melancon, Nolan Edwards, Javon Weir and Russell Riggan.

Riggan doubled in the 800 meters and placed 16th with a time of 2:06.85.

Melancon doubled in the 200 meters and placed 18th at 23.65 — a PR.

Alex Galligan competed in the 2-mile and placed 14th with a PR of 10:07.38.

Central’s Andrew Farber brought home 22nd place in the mile with a PR of 4:51.64.

Lebanon High — Blue Devil Aiden Britt placed seventh in the mile with a tile of 4:28.65.

University of Memphis signee Jon Terio Horton placed seventh in the high jump at 5′ 10″.75.

Nathanael Green placed fifth in the triple jump at 41′ 11″.25.

Mt. Juliet — Bear Henry Griffith placed sixth in the 800 meters with a time of 1:58.49 — a PR.

Mt. Juliet’s Julia Karsten also ran in the 800 meters and finished seventh with a time of 2:18.80 — a personal record.
