Weekend jamborees were final rehearsals 

The 2019 football season kicks off in earnest Friday, Aug. 23 as all six Wilson County prep programs are in action, three at home.

Old rivals Friendship Christian and Trousdale County will square off Friday at the newly remodeled Pirtle Field in a battle of 2018 BlueCross Bowl finalists.

Kickoff is scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Live radio coverage can be heard on Hartsville station 93.5 WTNK-FM.

Wilson Central will host Springfield in a 7 p.m. contest at Wildcat Stadium and Watertown is slated to host rival Gordonsville Friday at Robinson Stadium.

The WHS v. Gordonsville game will be broadcast live on DTC3 cable television.

Road games Friday finds Lebanon renewing a traditional rivalry with the Gallatin Green Wave.

Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Calvin Short Field. Live radio coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. on WANT FM 98.9.

Mt. Juliet Christian Academy visits Goodpasture and Mt. Juliet travels to Rutherford County to take on Stewarts Creek -- both games kick at 7 p.m.

Jamboree action from Aug. 16 & 17

Mt. Juliet 10, Beech 7

MT. JULIET -- Tyler Johnson connected on a 37-yard field goal as time expired to lift Mt. Juliet to a thrilling 10-7 victory over Beech Saturday in the annual Bears/Bucs Brawl at Elzie Patton Field.

Lebanon 7, Cookeville 7

LEBANON -- Down 7-0 in the closing minute, Lebanon scored with 41 seconds remaining on a 67-yard touchdown pass from Eli Clemmons to Will Seats as the Blue Devils tied Cookeville 7-7 at Tribble Field / Watkins Stadium. Christian Pena booted the PAT for LHS.

Watertown 13, Smith County 0

CARTHAGE -- Watertown led Smith County 13-0 after one period in Friday's Smith County Jamboree, before the reserves took over in the second quarter.

Hillsboro 21, MJ Christian 3

DONELSON -- Mt. Juliet Christian Academy dropped a 21-3 decision to Class 6A Hillsboro in Friday's 51st annual Metro Jamboree at McGavock High School.
