NASHVILLE -- Three Wilson County athletes turning in first place performances Tuesday evening at the 19th annual Vanderbilt Great 8 Track and Field meet.
Mt. Juliet sprinter Colby Martin doubled in the 100 and 200 meters -- winning both events. Martin ran a 10.90 in the 100 and a 21.84 in the 200.
Lebanon High's Aiden Britt won the 3,200 meters with a time of 9.21.28 -- breaking the school record formerly held by LHS Sports Hall of Fame inductee Clay Hannah.
Wilson Central thrower Zoe Vlk won both the discus (126-07.50) and the shot put (44-01.00).
UP NEXT -- Lebanon will compete in the South Sub-Sectional at Brentwood's Ravenwood High Thursday and Friday.
Wilson Central and Mt. Juliet compete in the North Sub-Sectional at West Creek High School in Clarksville Thursday and Friday.
ABOUT THE GREAT 8 -- Since 2000, the Great 8 meet has attracted the best high school track and field athletes in Middle Tennessee and pits them against each other in a fast-paced, entertaining meet on Vanderbilt's Mondo track.
There is only one heat/section of each event, and so only the best eight performances are accepted into the meet, along with the next three performances as alternates in those events.
