Tigers win third straight game -
NASHVILLE - Watertown jumped out to an early 14-0 lead and never looked back in a lopsided 38-8 road win over Region 4, 2A opponent Whites Creek Friday.
The Purple Tigers (3-2) won for the third consecutive outing and moved to 2-0 in the region with a Sept. 24 game at Class 4A Upperman High on the horizon.
Whites Creek (2-3) lost for a second straight outing and heads Ashland City to play Cheatham County High.
“I thought we executed well on both sides of the ball and got some big plays on special teams,” said Watertown coach Gavin Webster, “our kids came out ready to play.”
Allowing just a single score in the finals seconds of regulation, Webster spoke highly of defensive coordinator Josh Hackett.
“Coach Hackett does a great job of getting the defense prepared and the kids come out and executed,” Webster said.
WHS opened the scoring with a 32-yard touchdown run from sophomore Adam Cooper.
Moments later, Hayden Dicken recovered a blocked Cobra punt for a 14-0 lead with 9:08 remaining in the first quarter.
The touchdown parade continued at the 5:50 mark of the first quarter when quarterback Brayden Cousino found Brady Watts for an 8-yard score for a 21-0 lead headed into the second quarter.
The second quarter found Kwame Seay adding a 3-yard TD run, followed by Cooper's second touchdown at the 7:39 mark to push the Purple Tiger lead to 35-0.
