Four teams in action Monday --
Down 14 during the second half, Lebanon rallied for a 63-61 win over Stewarts Creek in Thursday's home-opener at Campbell Brandon Gymnasium.
Jamar Kynard raced to the wing and blocked a potential game-winning 3-point try by Stewarts Creek guard Bryce Jackson at the buzzer.
Senior post David Greene led the Blue Devils with 24 points, including a 6-of-8 effort at the charity stripe.
Kynard finished with 10 points, Malcolm Logue added nine while Kobe Tibbs and Jeremiah Hastings each had seven.
LHS 68, Cookeville 65
COOKEVILLE -- A big second quarter run and clutch free throw shooting down the stretch helped lead Lebanon to a 68-65 win at Cookeville Tuesday, Nov. 19. LHS managed to hold off the Cavs with a 5-of-6 free throw shooting down the stretch.
Kobe Tibbs fired in 22 points to lead Lebanon while Gavin Reasonover drilled four 3-pointers and finished with 16.
Wilson Central 68, Shelbyville Central 58
GLADEVILLE -- Wilson Central moved to 2-0 on the season following a 68-58 victory over Shelbyville Central Thursday, Nov. 21.
The Wildcats got 18 points from Caleb Lawrence, who nailed three 3-pointers.
Adler Kerr and Jordan Beard had 13 points each. Maravich Bond and Caleb Berman each had six points.
Mt. Juliet 80, Siegel 61
MT. JULIET -- Will Pruitt struck for 24 points and Riggs Abner added 18 as Mt. Juliet rolled to an 80-61 win over Siegel Thursday at Tommy Martin Gym.
Gage Wells added 11 points -- including three 3-pointers.
The Bears are set to host Ravenwood High Monday, Nov. 25 and will play at East Nashville High Tuesday, Dec. 3.
Gordonsville 62, Friendship 48
LEBANON -- Friendship Christian dropped to 2-2 on the still young basketball season following Saturday's 62-48 loss to Gordonsville High at the Bay Family Sportsplex.
Down 22-20 at intermission, the Tigers outscored their hosts 22-9 in the third period -- 42-26 over the last two quarters.
Max Duckwiler connected on three 3-pointers and led the Commanders with 12 points. Andrew Mathis added nine, Dillon Turner had seven and Casey Jones six on a pair of 3-point baskets.
Tyler Gregory had 18 for Gordonsville (2-1).
"I'm thankful to have gotten four games in during this Hall of Fame week," said Friendship coach Ben Johnson. "With a lot of young and new players, we needed the game time on the court."
The Commanders return to action Tuesday, Dec. 3 hosting Westmoreland.
Merrol Hyde 75, Friendship 65
LEBANON -- Leading 42-31 at halftime, Friendship Christian's lead went by the wayside in Saturday's 75-65 loss to Merrol Hyde Magnet at the Bay Family Sportsplex.
The Hawks doubled up the Commanders in the third period 20-10 and outscored their hosts 24-24 in the final eight minutes.
Andrew Mathis, who played in Friendship's semifinal football game the night before, led all scorers with 27 points, including 21 in the first half.
Mathis connected on three 3-pointers and was a perfect 8-for-8 at the free throw line.
Joseph Meadows added nine, Dillon Turner eight and Bryce Miller six points.
Isaac Stinson led Merrol Hyde with 23 points -- including a 9-for-10 effort at the line.
