A TWRA deer hunting seminar for women is coming up Nov. 12-14.

The TWRA’s annual Becoming an Outdoors Woman (BOW) workshop for women for instruction in deer hunting will be held Nov. 12-14 in Humphreys County.

The seminar costs $250 with meals included, and is open to women 18 and over.

Participants born after Jan. 1, 1969 must complete a Hunter Education class. The classes are offered on-line at www.tnwildlife.org. To register contact Don.Hosse@tn.gov.

Hosse can also be contacted for information about the TWRA’s annual hunt for youngsters 10-16 who have never harvested a deer. The hunt is free and held in Humphreys County.

TWRA supports breast cancer awareness: The TWRA is selling pink patches and hats to promote Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The proceeds go to "Casting for Recovery", an organization that arranges fly fishing trips for women affected by breast cancer.

State parks volunteers: Throughout the month of October Tennessee’s state parks will host volunteer cleanup events in support of First Lady Maria Lee’s “Tennessee Serves” challenge to inspire volunteerism.

Detailed information about how to volunteer is available on the Tennessee State Parks Volunteers website or by contacting a specific park vis its website.

Many state parks offer special fall attractions and events, including ranger-guided tours. Information is available on the parks’ websites.

Dove fields sought: The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is seeking fields to lease for public dove hunting.

The Agency will pay $75 per acre and more, depending on what is planted in the field.

The state’s dove season is divided into three segments, the first ending Sept. 28. The second runs Oct. 10-Nov. 1 and the third Dec. 8-Jan. 15.
